Have We Been Busy?!?!

As you can tell, we have been incredibly busy in the fourth grade over the past month! We have begun our Voice Thread where we can share our ideas about books with children in schools from different countries. Our writing has included Adventure Stories and essays on "What We Are Thankful For." In morning meeting, we have also started to play a game called "The Minister's Cat" in which we must come up with adjectives to describe the cat. It really makes us think about all of the wonderful adjectives out there! Everyone worked very hard on the November Book Project which was our first real written book report. Our reading in December is focusing on poetry and the pure emotions that can be expressed in the genre. On Friday we listened to and talked about the song "Puff the Magic Dragon." Such a simple song, but such a sad story for that dragon, Puff. This week we are working on holiday cards to brighten the day for injured soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital. It is difficult to believe that our holiday break is just a week and a half away, but it is! Signed, The Class

Towards the end of music it was our turn to do our own show and we sang a song from High School Musical 2, and the name of the song was We Can Work This Out. Geting closer to the end of the day we had Science, there we watched a movie about weather. Then we had History, that's when it was the real deal,we tried to put a theory toghter about The Lost Colony.Well that's our day in conclusion,it was an ASTONISHING Wednesday.

CAMPOUT DAY

A little rain could not dampen our Campout Day. Despite the dreary weather, we listened to guest speakers and helped pitch a tent inside Mr. E's classroom. So many of our amazing parents worked to provide us with an outstanding cook out....in the breezeway! We finished the day with some "Sleeping Bag" DEAR time, and braved a rain shower to continue our pursuit of the perfect Nation Ball match.

Thank you parents, families, and students for working together to make this a fantastic day!

A Very Cold Day

Today it was very cold, but that didn't stop us from having fun. In PE we played the game "Royalty." In French and Spanish, we practiced writing our numbers. Afterwards, we had math which was fun because we got to play Place Value Quizmo. We had DEAR right after lunch for 25 minutes. Then we banned the word big by coming up with synonyms to take its place. In our short assembly, the upper school chorus sang the song, "That's What the Devil Says." We used WHALES ON STILTS to help us create a descriptive paragraph about a picture of an abandoned warehouse. Now it's off to recess! In conclusion, it was really fun for a Monday!

Spectacular Science

What do paper airplanes, the solar system, and writing checklists have in common? They were all things we worked with today. In computer class, we used the Science Explorations website to cut and paste information about the solar system into a word document. We had to leave PE early to have our yearbook pictures taken. In math, we worked on comparing and also rounding larger numbers. Our experiment in science class let us do something our teachers never let us do in school, make paper airplanes. We experimented to see if attaching a paper clip to the front of the planes would allow them to fly farther. The day ended with a discussion about our writing checklist. Signed: The Class

Great Day

Our first day has come and gone, and we were able to get most of our materials organized and put away. Our teacher began to go over her 44 Essential Rules, and we began to become accustomed to how she "does things." We interviewed a partner and introduced that partner to the class. Now we are looking forward to tomorrow when we begin our science and history rotations.
